You will choose one of the two options below to study, and present your findings to the class in a short presentation (≤ 10 min) using Google Slides. This will be worth 50 classwork points.

Pick a clip from film or TV that uses (or misuses!) chemistry and create a Google Slides presentation to explain it. If you can, include the clip (≤ 2min of your total presentation). If not, describe the clip. Upload a shareable link to your presentation on Jupiter. Have fun!

Choose a career that could be achievable with a background in chemistry. Create a Google Slides presentation that teaches the class what you learn! Upload a shareable link to your presentation on Jupiter. Have fun! Some guiding questions are:
What would you be doing?
How is chemistry related to this career?
What companies will you work for?
Where in the world will you be able to work?
What education is needed for this career?
What colleges might be good to prepare for this career?
How much can you make?
What is a typical day like?
What are the pros & cons of this career?
Where did you find your information?
There are LOTS of possible options for this! Some good examples of career presentations in the past include:
Environmental lawyer, pharmacist, forensic scientist, professor, chemical engineer, food scientist, pyrotechnician, medicinal chemist, pharmaceutical sales rep, physician, brewer, anasthesiologist, art restoration specialist, chemistry app developer, formulation chemist, toxicologist, dye/pigment chemist, and LOTS more!

Here's a tentative schedule. Can't present on your date? Find someone to switch with. Once you know your topic, let Dr. O know and he will add it to the schedule so we don't have any duplicates in the same class. Have fun!

This project will have you work in the lab and apply the techniques used this year to identify an unknown solid. You and your team will need to plan, experiment, and report your findings in a Google Slides submission (not live). This will be worth 50 classwork points. You will have access to:

To submit your results, you and your partners will create a Google Slides presentation (3-5 slides) and upload it to Jupiter on or before the last day of classes. One submission per group will suffice (be sure the names of all members are on the slides!)
